- helps them to prepare dcuments.

2.List 9 advantages of using the word processing softaware.
1. keying errors that are made when creating a document are easily
corrected by backspacing and rekeyeing.
2. After initial keyeing of the document, errors can easily be corrected by moving the insertion point to the error and rekeying.
3. Revisions to the entered document can be made at any time. Blocks of text can be copied or moved to new locations. In addition, font styles and sizes can be changed without rekeying text.
4. A spelling checker, thesaurus, and/or grammar can be used to improve accuracy or readablility.
5. Mail merge eliminates the need to rekey a ocument for each entry on a mailing list.
6. Documents can be stored for later reuse.
7. Documents are more accurate because revisions do not require a retyping of the entire document, and text potions that are used repeatedly can be stored on disk and re-used. This reduces thelikelihood of introducing errors into a document after proofreading.

- so its easier and more fun for people to create documents, it saves them time and is more creative.

- so you could see how your document will print out.

- its a revision to your document that you are writing. it moves a block of text and you can reposition it.

10. Describe the operation of a typical spelling checker.
- it looks up words in its dictionaries and calls attention to the not-found words.

11. Describe the operation of a typical thesaurus program.
- when you select a synonym for a particular word, the program then looks up the words stred in the thesaurus and suggest alternative words.

12. Describe the operation of a typical grammar and style checker.
- they check for sentence fragments, length of segments, trite, overused expressions, subject agreement punctuation, and sentence structure all in diff langueges.

13. What is the purpose of the mail merge function?
- sending the document to diff. people.

14. What is the purpose of mailing labels?
- to know who the document goes to.

15. Describe four applications of word processing.
- correspondance, document consturction, prparing manuscripts, and desktop publishing.

16. What is the relationship between word-processing software capability and hardware requirements?
- a new software is developed and a existing software is updated.
